Who Can't We Say No to Supermarket Tabloids?
Growing up, I was never allowed to be the victim of giving into the supermarket tabloids simply because my mom would tell my sister and me that they were just a waste of money. There were several occasions when my sister and I would sit on the floor of the store being sucked into the new drama of the week or taking the test to see which celebrity would be my most suitable boyfriend.
Supermarket tabloids know just the trick to grab your attention and not let go. They throw together all the latest drama that the public dying to get their hands on. Whether the drama in popular magazines like Star, U.S. Weekly, or The U.S. Sun is true information is unpredictable, but what is for certain is that they are having no problem catching the eye of people wanting the latest scoop.
Recently a story came out on The U.S. Sun about Rihanna getting pregnant by A$Ap Rocky. There was a piece posted on their website about her ex, Drake, who posted a cryptic quote with a photo after Rihanna confirmed her pregnancy on Instagram, and then he proceeded to unfollow her.
Supermarket tabloids have been the centerpiece of checkout lines for many years now. While waiting in the long lines to checkout, you can't help but scan over the many different eye-catching covers of these popular magazines. There will be almost any topic you can think of, for example, the hottest couple, how to lose weight in just one week, who just broke up, who cheated on who, or what is the latest beauty trend. If we are being honest, how do we not fall into these tabloid traps? Who doesn't want to know what the hottest celebrity is putting on her face to make her look so gorgeous or what workout they are doing to stay slim and sexy? Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in these celebrities' personal lives and it's hard not to think that it may be because we are either bored in our own lives or we are just distracting ourselves. Nowadays it is difficult to tell what is the truth in these tabloids because the content consist of a lot of he said she said stories.
I guess we will never really know why we get so caught up in these supermarket tabloids but one thing is for sure is that each time we go through the checkout line, we won't be able to help ourselves when the latest drama is staring us in the face.
